For the natural man is an enemy to God,
and has been from the fall of Adam,
and will be, forever and ever,
unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit,
and putteth off the natural man and
becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord,
and becometh as a child,
submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love,
willing to submit to all things which
the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him,
even as a child doth
submit to his father.
"I love the gospel of our Lord and Savior.
It has brought into my life
the greatest peace of mind, joy, and happiness
I could ever hope to find on this earth.
I pray that each of us might be willing and able to share this pearl of great price—
a pearl of lasting and singular beauty—
with all of our Heavenly Father’s children,
that we may go forward
armed with the gospel of our Lord and Savior.
This is His work in which we’re engaged.
God lives. Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world.
This is my solemn witness to you,
in His holy name, amen."
“The Peaceable Followers of Christ”
By Elder L. Tom Perry
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Let us be peaceable followers of Christ...
“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
“But I say unto you,
Love your enemies,
bless them that curse you,
do good to them that hate you,
and pray for them which despitefully use you,
and persecute you.”
Matthew 5:43-44
“But love ye your enemies,
and do good,
and lend, hoping for nothing again;
and your reward shall be great,
and ye shall be the children of the Highest:
for he is kind unto the
unthankful and to the evil.”
“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this,
To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction,
and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”
“But charity is the pure love of Christ,
and it endureth forever;
and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day,
it shall be well with him.”
Wherefore, I would speak unto you that are of the church, that are the peaceable followers of Christ,
and that have obtained a sufficient hope
by which ye can enter into the rest of the Lord,
from this time henceforth
until ye shall rest with him in heaven.
And now my brethren,
I judge these things of you because of your
peaceable walk with the children of men.
For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances;
for to make in himself of twain one new man,
so making peace;
Ephesians 2:14-14
